Institute for Public Safety and Justice, at the University of the District of Columbia; as Executive Director for the Time Dollar Institute’s Youth Court, a diversion program for first-time juvenile offenders, and later as the Director of the Violence Free Zone Demonstration Initiative at the National Center for Neighborhood Enterprises.

After his mother’s death, he returned to his hometown to restore the family’s residence and to reconnect with the community where he grew up. He reinstated his membership in the First African Baptist Church of Beaufort and became an ordained deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. Most of his time is now devoted to assisting the elderly in various ways, visiting nursing homes, hospitals and the residences of those living in isolation.

Upon reflection, he would later muse, that from a spiritual perspective, his time in prison has been, perhaps, the most illuminating period of his life. Other than ministering to the elderly, his other competing passions are advocating for at-risk youths and ex-offenders. In so doing, he challenges the faith-based community, the community at-large, government, and business to respond to one of the most pressing problems of our times. He believes that as a society, we have a collective responsibility to help our troubled youth to get their lives on track and to stay on track, and that we must, also, assist ex-offenders in their efforts to re-integrate into society as responsible, law-abiding, and productive members of our respective communities. He is convinced that by ignoring, alienating and marginalizing such a large segment of our society, we, as a nation, are unwittingly creating a breed of super-predators, people deprived of hope, people without viable options. He proclaims that We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers.

The “Memoirs of the Prodigal Son” is an autobiographical account of the incredible highs and lows that he has experienced in his life’s journey, and he is prayerfully optimistic that his testimony will be an inspiration to all who are being severely challenged by life’s adversities and who are in search of a monumental victory, a victory that can only be realized by grace, through divine intervention. He is persuaded that we are neither the masters of our fate, nor the captains of our souls, but are the subjects of our Divine Creator.
